Mark Elvin – Head Chef
Mark studied at Norwich City College for three years in Catering and Hospitality. He worked much of his culinary career across the UK working in award-winning hotels and restaurants.
He has plenty of experience creating menus which focus on East Anglian’s finest sourced ingredients, which he is lucky to have right on his doorstep.
Now heading up The Courtyard kitchen at Elveden Estate offering a relaxing dining experience making it the ideal place for you to enjoy with family.
Mark sources as much as possible from the Elveden estate and farm, including vegetables, meat and foraged herbs.
Mark has worked in some of the best eating establishments in Norfolk and the UK which includes The Wildebeest, The Boars, Sir Christopher Wrens House Hotel and The New Mill Restaurant. Mark’s claim to fame is having cooked for The Queen and the Queen’s mother.
Recently he has been a regular on the live cookery theatre stage, which includes cooking demonstrations at The Royal Norfolk Show, Newmarket food and drink festival and The East Anglian Game and Country Fair. In 2018 Mark was a finalist for the category of EDP Norfolk Chef of the year in which he finished runner up.
Mark is known for serving classic, robust flavours with a modern twist.
Meet Jonathan Curtis
A diverse Chef spanning almost 40 years across various catering and hospitality sectors.
An initial 6 years of grass roots training in London presented amazing opportunities at distinguished restaurants such as the Greenhouse, Hilaire and Turners.
More latterly, a successful time spent in self-employment and product development garnered me with invaluable business acumen, made especially challenging during the economic downturn of 2009.
As such, some of my successes include a Michelin Red M, Supermeat product of the Year across all national retailers, as well as a recipe inclusion in Delia Smiths, ‘How to Cook’, Book 3, whom I’m proud to say came to our home for dinner along with her husband Michael Wynn Jones.
