This warm and friendly 17th century Freehouse is to the north side of Norwich cathedral.
Owned by Craig & Lynne McLaren since 1993. 'The Wig' as its affectionately known, has built a reputation for a fresh, fast, affordable British cuisine.
A comprehensive lunchtime menu is very popular with local businesses and tourists alike. Whether it's spinach soup in the snug or a fresh seafood terrine on the terrace.
The weekend and evening menu is a combination of modern and traditional dishes, freshly prepared using locally sourced produce.
Sunday roasts are another popular addition to this menu and are now served to 4.00pm.
Complement your meal with one of the six highly accredited real ales or with a bottle from the select but reasonably priced wine list.
All in all, this is the place for straightforward and enjoyable city dining, without breaking the bank.
Because we are a Free House and not governed by anyone other than ourselves we are able to change the menu when we feel like it. Generally we change it 4 or 5 times a month, reflecting the changes in season. Hot and Cold Soups in Summer, Pheasant and Venison Dishes in Autumn/Winter, various Shellfish as they come in and out of season, just to name a few.
Above all, fresh, good quality ingredients, well prepared with time and thought given to how it should be.
Bring friends and family on a Sunday to enjoy a succulent roast dinner together served with all the trimmings. Enjoy our delicious roast beef available every Sunday, or select our Sunday roast special which could be either lamb or pork. We also have a range of vegetarian Sunday specials which change from week to week. We look forward to welcoming you to enjoy your Sunday lunch with us.
If you love everything a pub traditionally offers - superbly cooked food and a proper pint - you'll find yourself at home in the Wig & Pen.
