The Hunny Bell

The Green Hunworth Holt, Norfolk NR24 2AA

The Hunny Bell is a wonderful 18th Century pub with a traditional beamed main bar and cosy snug, recently sensitively restored to create a pub which retains it historic character with upgraded facilities including a brand new kitchen and toilets.

ESTABLISHED IN 1836 The Hunny Bell sits on the green in the picturesque village of Hunworth in the beautiful Glaven valley two miles south of the popular north Norfolk market town of Holt. The Hunny Bell is a wonderful 18th Century pub with a traditional beamed main bar and cosy snug, recently sensitively restored to create a pub which retains it historic character with upgraded facilities including a brand new kitchen and toilets. Food is an important ingredient of any pub but the emphasis is on traditional fayre rather than the gastro route. Traditional favourites feature heavily with home made suet crust steak and kidney pie, half a pint of prawns and home cooked hand carved ham, eggs and chips and a traditional apple and rhubarb crumble proving to be some of the most popular dishes off the menu . With a new terrace overlooking the green and a charming olde world English garden the Hunny Bell combines all the wonderful characteristics of which the English pub is famous for with proper modern facilities to ensure the comfort, safety and happiness of all our guests.

The Hunny Bell

The Hunny Bell

We were visiting friends over the Easter holiday and they took us to the Hunny Bell. I eat out at pubs around the country quite a lot but I can genuinely say the meal I had there has got to be the best meal out I have ever eaten. From the start the menu was so varied it was hard to choose. It prides itself on traditional food which indeed it was, but with such a modern twist as to make it a gourmet meal out. To start I had figs, stuffed with dolce latte and wrapped in prosciutto. Absolutely lovely. Then I had blade of beef which you could honestly shred with a fork it was so tender, with the butteriest garlic mash I ever had. Then some fabulous field mushrooms cooked in butter to accompany it, and to top off with the richest scrummiest gravy I have ever had. And everything was perfectly seasoned. My only regret was that I didn't have room for a dessert....they were to die for. Usually there is some part of a meal which you aren't pleased with but not here. I was thrilled with everything I ate ...and drank! The staff were all lovely and very friendly. Service prompt but not rushed. All in all a thoroughly enjoyable meal. My friends' meals were equally winners too. The pub itself is stunning as well. Delightful. Hope to visit again. Would thoroughly recommend it.

The Hunny Bell

My family and I went to the Hunny Bell to celebrate my mothers 70th birthday. The manager and the staff were brilliant, they looked after all of us and even helped with the surprise of some visitors from Surrey. I would and have recommended them to several people. Thanks again for a lovely meal in great surroundings.

The Hunny Bell

We went here for a meal on my birthday and it was a lovely night out. The Hunny Bell was toasty warm when we got there, a nice contrast to the icy cold temperature outside in early January! We sat by the fire in the bar area while we chose our food and then went through in to the restaurant. The food was really lovely, great choice and well presented. We would certainly go back and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. The staff were very friendly too. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.
