Globe Inn, The

The Buttlands Wells next to Sea Wells Next The Sea, Norfolk NR23 1EU

Overlooking a pretty, leafy Georgian square in the bustling seaside town of Wells-next-the-Sea, The Globe Inn is a great base for a break on the beautiful north Norfolk coast or an ideal spot for a pint of local beer and some simple, home cooked food

Drink...

The bar is open Monday to Saturday, 11am to 11pm and from 12noon to 10.30pm on Sundays serving a selection of real ales from local brewers. We also have a small, but interesting, wine list which includes two excellent organic wines from France and Spain.

Eat...

Come to The Globe for anything from a full blown meal to bar snacks. Please remember to look at our specials board, which changes regularly and features fresh, local food, taking advantage of the abundance of produce available from both farm and sea.

In early summer, enjoy the tenderest asparagus and sweet early strawberries, the first sea bass of the year, spring lamb and vegetables, then tasty crab, samphire and the freshest mackerel straight out of the sea. While in autumn, offer sea trout and local mussels. As as autumn turns to winter, take comfort in warming winter food of wild game from Holkham Estate, roasted winter root vegetables and jugs of richly stocked gravy.

The Globe's kitchen also caters for little appetites, making homemade dishes such as little fish and chips, rare breed sausages, mash and onion gravy and pasta. Any special dietary requirements can be accommodated given some notice. Our menu is traditional modern British pub- food that reflects the area our young chefs live and work in. We also have a small dining room available for private parties up to 16.

Food is served from 12noon until 2.30pm and 6.00pm until 9.00pm, Monday to Sunday. As well as our menu and daily changing specials we also offer a Sunday roast.

Sleep...

The Inn has seven, light and airy rooms, including five double en-suite rooms and two twin en-suite rooms, all with oak flooring. The rooms are simple, modern and well sound proofed, with televisions and phones. Rooms are available from £80 per night for a double, en-suite room and a hearty full English breakfast, eggs benedict, or Cley smoked haddock with a poached egg.

At weekends we operate a two night booking policy over a Friday and Saturday night.

The bars and dining room have wheelchair access, as does the lavatory.
Dogs are welcome.

I went here with my mother after a dog walk as we fancied something light to eat before heading off home and The Globe did just that. We had the pitta breads and hummous and a plate of chips and it was quick to arrive, lovely and hot and just right to tide us over til dinner. We have been back since for a 'proper' lunch and was equally please with the service, the quality of the food and the cost. It's great value and really delicious. I will be going back and would heartily recommend it to others.
