Went to the Sole and Heel today for our christmas dinner and it was fantastic, and so very friendly the meal was out of this world from the starter right thou to the cheese and biscuit,s. the landlord and landlady were very friendly and made my partner and i feel right at home in-fact on our way out we asked if we could book in for next year, we live locally so will definitely be going again and are looking forward to the summer as having a walk round the garden i can see us spending a lot of good and happy time,s there. your truly Pauline Clarke and David Matthews

Fox and Hounds

Good food, a warm welcome and reasonable prices, what more could one ask for? The Fox and Hounds is clean and comfortable and very relaxing. The visitors to my holiday cottage and caravan site always tell me how impressed they are and regular visitors look forward to their next stay and another meal at the Fox and Hounds. They also have a vegetarian choice which has met with great approval. We are so lucky to have such a good pub in the village and I love going down for a meal or a drink and to meet up with friends.

My wife and I went to lunch here today to celebrate our wedding anniversary, knowing where the proprietors had previously worked. Our good experience started when I phoned to book - a cheerful reply and quick booking made.When we arrived we were made very welcome and Aspell's cider on draught is a positive bonus. Admittedly the pub was not particularly busy but the service was very prompt and cheerful. I asked for something not strictly on the menu - pan fried sea bass fillets with potatoes and vegetables. No problem at all.The sea bass was absolutely delicious and it was served on a potato rosti to die for. The vegetables were fresh and piping hot, My wife opted for the Salmon-en-croute in a cream sauce with chips. She found it superb and could not manage the side salad. We could not manage more than the one course, the quality was great, the portions generous and the service friendly and efficient. We are going back at the end of October with the rest of the family for my birthday and from what we saw today on the menus there will something for all of us to enjoy.

Cannot believe we have lived here for the past 9yrs, and this evening was our first visit to The Fox,...the food was excellent...crisp vegtables...very good portions...very good menu....staff very friendly and very efficient,....can definitley reccommend this pub.....especially the licorice allsorts...with the bill...:-)

We were on holiday in Norfolk in 2007 and found this restaurant by chance: we were very impressed with the food, service and ambience. I just checked that it was still in operation as we shall be in the area again next week and will definitely book to go.

We came to The Fox and Hounds from Kings Lynn, to meet friends on the hope the food would be OK, I certainly wasn,t disappointed, the food was excellent owner and staff very friendly and food reasonably priced.Never been to Lyng before but will certainly return all the best Fox and Hounds.

Three friends and myself went there one night in February, the log fire was burning, atmosphere lwarm, food was lovley, thouroughly enjoyable evening. I recomended it to my husband and his friends who visited recently on one chilly evening,they said the pub was very nice and the food was lovley but it was cold they kept there coats on ,no log fire!!The fire is such a draw for clients, not many pubs with them these days, keep the fire burning Fox.

Duck Inn

Really nice setting smart & chic. Helpful & friendly staff. The best thing about this pub is the food - not only really tasty and wonderfully presented but HOT, not just warm but HOT which made our night!

Blue Boar, The

Really good food in cosy surroundings. Try the pork from the pigs next door, or the mussels from Brancaster. Seasonal, good portions, good, honest food with a great pint guaranteed.

Three Horseshoes, The

Five friends met for lunch, we were given a warm welcome. There was a great choice from three types of menu. The food was excellent and good value for money.. A lovely atmosphere. Thank you Emma for looking after us so well. We will definitely return and recommend The Three Horseshoes for a worth while visit. Very enjoyable.

Hunny Bell, The

My family and I went to the Hunny Bell to celebrate my mothers 70th birthday. The manager and the staff were brilliant, they looked after all of us and even helped with the surprise of some visitors from Surrey. I would and have recommended them to several people. Thanks again for a lovely meal in great surroundings.

Olive Branch

Excellent! Beautiful place with a lovely welcoming atmosphere. All the staff were very professional and genuinely friendly.
The food was fantastic, superbly presented, everything full of flavour, delicious and of generous proportions.
It definitely exceeded my expectations. I believe you wouldnt find anywhere else locally, as high quality as the Olive Branch at Tunstead.
Highly recommending to all my friends and family and will definately be returning.

Great home cooked food, all prepared fresh and made to order. Great spacious resturant with friendly staff. Desserts are truly amazing, especially the chocolate torte, portions are just the right size to fill and satisfy with room for a lovely dessert. Wide range of fish, meat and home cooked meals.

Visited twice now, been consistently good. On valentines night we had a meal off the set menu, and it was amazing, the deserts are generous and very tasty, Every thing was homemade, and made to order. The staff are efficient and friendly. The food was excellent value for money and portion sizes were just right. The atmosphere was friendly and the purpose built restaurant was roomy and inviting. My steak was perfectly cooked, and I loved the hand cut chips. Make sure if its on you have the chocolate torte, make sure you leave room as it is not for light weights ......... YUM...

Rose Garden Cafe

I went here for lunch with my daughter and a friend on Wednesday this week - what a change in a couple of years! As we walked in my daughter said "Oh no not here!" I said it had changed hands and was now run by the Holkham Estate and would be much better. We weren't disappointed. Freshly baked cakes (and what a selection to choose from!), locally sourced fabulous sausages, pasties and of course Bray Pork Pies or a choice of sandwiches or hot food to warm you up on a cold day. All our food was delicious, the staff were really friendly and it was warm inside too with bright colourful furniture. I would heartily recommend a visit after a walk on the beach (just across the road) or if you're passing by - we will be back soon.

Cross Keys

Six of us dined at the Cross Keys on Valentine's Night 2012. The dining area is small and cosy, the table was well presented and the log burner gave just the right atmosphere.

A variety of choices was selected from the special Valentine menu including vegetarian. All four courses were enjoyed with special comment on the lobster, steaks and sweets (divine, as usual!). Our veggie was very happy with her food, too. Once again, the Cross Keys provided excellent restaurant quality food in pleasant surroundings with good, attentive, service.

We all agreed that Paul and his team are doing very well: we heartily recommend the Cross Keys cuisine to all - the real ale is great, too.

Look out for more improvements to the bar area by this summer.

Roger Hickman's Restaurant

We chose Roger Hickman's restaurant to celebrate my father's 70th birthday. There were 10 of us to eat and chose a 7pm sitting.

The restaurant is well lit but not too bright allowing you to see what you are eating.

All the staff that waited on our table were extremely polite and attentive but not over the top.

The menu is small but very well thought out with something that appealed to all our party. However, my wife was concerned as there was only one vegetarian option listed for both starter and main. However, this didn't cause an issue as the goats cheese starter was delicious. When my wife asked for her main to have the lentil sauce removed, the response was that she could have a completely different one if she wished. Very accomodating.

I went with a Smoked haddock, poached egg and potato soup for starters. What turned up was amazing. A very light fluffy whipped potato soup with perfectly smoked haddock.

For main, both myself and a few others chose the duck which arrived perfectly cooked.

Everyone commented that the food was exceptional and well worth the very reasonable price.

Dessert menu was equally as appealing and after a while of debating which would be best, I chose the salted caramel ice cream with pecans and banana....it was to die for.

Some of our party chose the cheese board and were thoroughly spoilt with the varied and delicious range available.

Would highly recommend dining at Roger Hickman's and will definately be returning again.

Wensum Valley Hotel Golf & Country Club

Had a lovely lunch here a few weeks ago with my daughter and mother. Very good home made chips. Friendly service and was all freshly prepared. I've also been to a few evening events here and have always found the same good quality and service. Would thoroughly recommend it for lunch or dinner for work or pleasure.

Its great to see this up and running, been there several times and enjoyed the excellent food and fine choice of beers, warm and friendly. The Erpingham Arms is worth a visit.

Parson Woodforde

Whether you visit the Parson Woodforde to sample a real ale after a long day on the Broads or to enjoy dinner in the restaurant I think you will leave feeling pretty satisfied. We ate at the Parson Woodforde Saturday evening (you def need to book as it was extremely busy) and all four of us thoroughly enjoyed our meal and will definitely return. I had the Pigeon to start followed by the Pork belly - both dishes were delicious and the meat cooked to perfection. My friends had Chicken, vegetarian option and Bass all 3 dishes again looked amazing and judging by the empty plates at the end must have tasted equally as good. If my partner were to surprise me with a return trip to the Parson I would be delighted!

Not sure what order that should be in as all was perfect. We went lunchtime on May Day bank holiday and were amazed how busy it was - but they had the staff to cope and still time to ensure that evertyhing was ok after the meal had arrived. Food was served in a timely fashion and it was nice to have something freshly prepared and homemade! A great place for the family during the day with menu to suit everyone - we intend to return for an evening meal very soon... Thank you!!

Hunny Bell, The

We went here for a meal on my birthday and it was a lovely night out. The Hunny Bell was toasty warm when we got there, a nice contrast to the icy cold temperature outside in early January! We sat by the fire in the bar area while we chose our food and then went through in to the restaurant. The food was really lovely, great choice and well presented. We would certainly go back and I wouldn't hesitate to recommend it. The staff were very friendly too. A thoroughly enjoyable evening.

We went to the Hoste on Sunday after a dog walk at Holkham, there was 11 of us, including 3 children and as they were busy we were in the cellar room - a lovely room! Food was delicious (as usual) and the staff were friendly. Room was a touch on the chilly side but when we mentioned it the heater was put on and we soon warmed up. Great quality food in lovely surroundings. We have been visiting the Hoste for years and will continue to do so.

Ostrich Inn, The

We went here on a Wednesday evening and it was quite quiet (as expected) - a lovely pub with a traditional feel. Fab decor and I particularly enjoyed sitting by the fire and supping a beverage at the bar. The food was great - huge portions and tasty too. Good service, friendly staff and we will certainly be going back there again soon.

Cross Keys

Good menu and fine food, reasonably priced.

Stuffed mushrooms en croute were very tasty with a lovely sauce.

The sirloin steak was medium rather than the medium rare asked for but was better quality than often found in 'pub food'. The Chips were exceptional.

Staff were very welcoming and, as it is a rather small dining area it won't be long before booking will essential.

We have been a fan of the Olive Branch since it opened and consider it our Norfolk eatery of choice!
The food is always fabulous, the ambience and staff most welcoming.
If you are looking for a special meal or even a night out to treat yourselves then I can highly recommend it. They also do great priced and tasy lunches and the cafe which is open in the day does amazing cakes and other light bites.

Lodge, The

We went here for dinner last week and had burgers, with garlic bread and salad on the side - the burger was nice and tasty and not overcooked (who wants a cremated burger?), the chips were great (really crispy!) and the garlic bread was proper homemade sliced bread with garlic butter - delicious. The atmosphere was not as cosy as I like but once a few more people were sitting at nearby tables the atmosphere lifted and it felt warmer but on the whole the staff were friendly, the service good and most importantly the food was good - we would go back and think the fish and chip take away sounds good.

We're on a UK tour at the moment and, whilst in Wrenningham, I took my band to Bird in Hand to grab a bite to eat after our sound check. We were blown away by the friendliness of the staff and the quality of the food was fantastic. A big thank you from a rock'n'roller and his hungry musicians!

Globe Inn, The

I went here with my mother after a dog walk as we fancied something light to eat before heading off home and The Globe did just that. We had the pitta breads and hummous and a plate of chips and it was quick to arrive, lovely and hot and just right to tide us over til dinner. We have been back since for a 'proper' lunch and was equally please with the service, the quality of the food and the cost. It's great value and really delicious. I will be going back and would heartily recommend it to others.

The service, the atmosphere and the food were excellent. We have always enjoyed or trips to the Old Lodge, whether to an event or just an evening out with friends, but this visit surpassed every expectation. Thanks to all the staff.

Ostrich, The

My wife and I visited The Ostrich for a meal Sunday night and were very satisfied with the meal. The starter of Goats cheese on a crumpet, sounds unusual but I would highly recommend it. Along with the beer battered fish and cheese steak burger mains, we were both very impressed. Friendly staff and relaxing atmosphere made for a lovely meal.

Hunny Bell, The

My partner and I visited the Hunny Bell on a warm evening in August and it was definitely worth the 30 minute drive over there. We sat outside for a drink before ordering and then sat in the main bar area for our meal. The seating was cosy and comfortable, the food was delicious and the staff were very friendly and quick to serve. After dinner we sat back and relaxed in some comfy seats in the corner before heading off home. Some of the dishes sound quite adventurous and as a fussy eater I stuck with the safety of Fish and Chips (which was spot on!) but after seeing other peoples meals brought out I would be more tempted to try something more exciting next time. We both look forward to going back again soon.

North Norfolk Railway

We had a day out at the North Norfolk Railway and really enjoyed our Sunday Lunch on the train. What a amazing experience, the whole family enjoyed it!
